Zonked

Alright. So I started this whole blogging thing...and I am already falling behind! haha. Honestly, I am so zonked! Now when was the last time you heard someone say that?? It is actually quite a funny word. And although this post will not be super interesting and will most likely not lead you to deep contimplation about life, the world, or God, it may, just may, allow you to re-admit "zonked" into your vocabulary. So next time you are feeling super tired, pooped, or just done plum tuckered out, you have my permission to use the oh so fabulous word: zonked.

That is all.

I hope and pray all is well with you!!

Also, just a note: you do not have to be sick to take a "sick day." Tomorrow I am giving myself a "sick day" which I am calling a "mental health day" and I think that is A-O-K. :) Happy Hump-Day!

Ein Elefant Für Dich

Ein Elefant Für Dich

Literally translated from German to mean "An elephant for you"

These words actually come from the lyrics of a song (titled the same thing)
Check it out here: Ein Elefant für Dich.
The song is a beautiful story of sharing our burdens with others as well as helping those around us.

"When your legs won't carry you like they should, I will carry you as far as I can
As far as I can
I will carry you over the river."

What a beautiful picture not only of friendship but of sacrifice and love.

Sometimes we can't carry our burdens like we should.

Sometimes life is hard.

Sometimes we need help.

We were made for relationships.

We need each other.

So that when life gets to heavy, we aren't alone.

Additionally, friends can be an extension of the love, grace, and support that God is already for us.

Warning: I am a nerd. And I'm about to get really nerdy.

This song reminds me of the Lord of the Rings: Return of the King when Sam and Frodo are climbing up Mount Doom to destroy the ring. They have come so far, but Frodo cannot continue any further: his legs just won't carry him. Then Sam says:

"Come on, Mr. Frodo. I can't carry it for you... but I can carry you!"

Sam then proceeds, as exhausted as he is, to carry Frodo (UP A MOUNTAIN!)

Wow.
Challenge:
Be a friend like that.

Newbie on the block

Ok.

This is my first attempt at a blog.

I never thought I would be one to do this, but I guess I have been encouragement and challenged by my sister Beth.
She has a blog you see.
I read it everyday (or whenever she posts).
It has been a reminder that there is joy and hope in life.
God is good and he cares about us. Sometimes it is hard to remember that.

I am reminded of several songs as I write this first blog. Like this one:

Obviously I am still playing with this whole blog thing. But I hope and pray this will be a both a learning experience and an adventure

God is good.
He watches over everything we see.
